Texans signing former Browns Pro Bowl guard Wyatt Teller to two-year, $23 million max value deal


HOUSTON – The Texans’ promised reboot of their offensive line continued Tuesday as they reached a two-year deal with former Cleveland Browns Pro Bowl offensive guard Wyatt Teller, per a league source.

The contract has a maximum value of $23 million with a base value of $16 million, per a league source.

Teller is known for his strength, power, technique and consistency

Teller is represented by veteran agent Andy Ross of Upper Edge Sports.

Teller, 31, started 13 games for the Browns last season at right offensive guard, but is capable of and willing to play left guard.

Teller, a former Buffalo Bills fifth-round draft pick, dealt with a calf injury at the end of last season.

He has started 101 of 109 career games since his rookie season. He played for Cleveland for the past seven years. Teller (6-foot-4, 315 pounds),

Teller should provide a boost to an offensive line that needed reinforcements and has been rebuilt again this offseason.

The Texans traded their top offensive lineman from last season, versatile former first-round draft pick Tytus Howard, to the Browns.

They signed former Indianapolis Colts right tackle Braden Smith to a two-year, $25 million deal.

They retained right guard Ed Ingram after a breakthrough season to a three-year, $37.5 million deal.

They re-signed former Pro Bowl offensive tackle Trent Brown as a swing tackle on a one-year, $7 million deal.

And they signed former Arizona Cardinals offensive guard-center Evan Brown to a one-year, $3.5 million deal to compete in the interior.

The Texans have left tackle Aireontae Ersery back after a solid rookie season.

And they traded for former Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery as their new featured back and hope to have a powerful running game.
