An unexpected photograph recently brought a touch of stardom and nostalgia to one care home resident.
Lawrence Lister at Ebor Court Care Home in Nether Poppleton, York, received a signed photograph from Dame Judi Dench, with whom he once appeared in the York Mystery Plays.
Denise Cooper, the home’s lifestyle manager, said: “When I reached out to Julien Belfrage, they were amazing and sent the signed personalised photo to Lawrence.
“The look on Lawrence’s face said it all.”
The gesture followed a conversation in which Mr Lister shared memories of his time performing alongside Dame Dench.

Last year, members of the York Mystery Society visited Ebor Court to reminisce with Mr Lister about those days.
Mr Lister said: “I wonder if Judi remembers me from the plays – she was just a young girl.
“There aren’t many of us left.
“The Mystery Plays in York were an amazing event, loved by all.
“The photo took me straight back.
“As an actor myself, I am so proud of Judi for making it all the way to the top of the tree.”
He described the gift as more than a memento, calling it a moment of pride and nostalgia.
