The main development team for Crimson Desert has moved to a new project, Pearl Abyss has reportedly revealed.
Speaking during a recent shareholder meeting, as reported by South Korean publication INVEN, Heo Jin-young, CEO of Pearl Abyss, recalled how the studio announced three new titles back in 2019, and development has been a lengthy process as they have been simultaneously working on the game and engine. One of these was of course Crimson Desert, which has just come out.
The remaining two titles are being powered by the Blackspace engine, the same technology that is powering Crimson Desert (also the first game to use this engine). One of the teams working on a project known as DokeV are working on “graphic asset production and other tasks in parallel,” according to a Google translation.
With Crimson Desert now complete, the core development team for that project are now turning their attention to DokeV, with Jin-young estimating “it will take about two to three years from the current timeline to completion and polishing.”
Crimson Desert launched for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S on March 19, and you can read our full review here. Pearl Abyss announced a few days ago that the open world RPG has surpassed three million sales.
