Mason Williams, the No. 109 overall recruit in the 2026 class, has committed to the Kentucky Wildcats on Friday afternoon.
The 6-foot-2 point guard out of Millington (Tenn.) Tennessee Collegiate Academy makes for Mark Pope’s first commitment in the class of 2026.
Williams is the son of former NBA player and current Jackson State head coach, Mo Williams.
He was previously committed to play for his father but after a standout summer and high school season, Williams reopened his recruitment to the high majors.
With the Wildcats without a commitment, Pope pivoted to Williams and got him on for an official visit this week.
Williams is a strong and skilled modern point guard who scores from all three levels and can create for himself and others.
Williams is a tough and dynamic guard who excelled playing against some of the top teams around the country this high school season.
He exited the summer as a three star recruit but during his season with Tennessee Collegiate on the Nike EYBL Scholastic, Williams has risen to the No. 109 spot and still on the ascent.
He averaged 15.4 PPG and 4.0 assists this season on the EYBL Scholastic League.
