Michigan native Jamie Ding won his 11th straight “Jeopardy!” appearance on Friday’s episode, tying him for the 18th-longest streak in the show’s history.
Ding, a bureaucrat and law student now residing in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, racked up another $19,010 during the episode, giving him a total of $291,820 in winnings.
He missed on the Final Jeopardy! clue, which asked contestants who Dame Judi Dench referred to as “the man who pays the rent” in her memoir. (The correct response was William Shakespeare, not James Bond, as Ding guessed.)
However, each of the other contestants got the question wrong as well, giving Ding another comfortable win.
His 11-day run is now tied with Arthur Chu’s streak from 2014 and Jonathan Fisher’s from 2021. He’s still got a long way to go to match the show’s all-time win record of 74 episodes, held by current host Ken Jennings, according to online database The Jeopardy! Fan.
Ding is a 2009 graduate of Grosse Pointe North High School who garnered multiple academic achievements during his time there, including a fourth-place finish in the 2009 National Academic Quiz Tournaments’ high school championship.
Ding will go for “Jeopardy!” win number 12 on Monday’s episode.
