Joe Rogan, the world’s most popular podcaster who has lately stepped up criticism of President Donald Trump, ripped into the MAGA coalition as a “movement of a bunch of f—ing dorks” lumped into the same category with some “genuine patriots,” as he again criticized the war in Iran on his show Thursday.

Key Facts

Rogan spoke with comedian and political commentator Dave Smith on the Thursday episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience,” with Smith—who endorsed Trump in 2024—admitting he is comfortable being considered “not MAGA” for not supporting the administration’s handling of the Epstein files or the Iran war.

Rogan, in response, said the “Make America Great Again” phrase “sucks,” adding, “America is great. Make America greater? I’m down.”

He slammed the MAGA coalition as a “movement of a bunch of f—ing dorks, saying, “A lot of them are dorks, a lot of them are really weird, uninteresting, unintelligent people” who are categorized as MAGA alongside some “real, genuine patriots.”

“They’re all lumped into this one group, and you’ve got to accept the dorks, too? F— that,” Rogan said, adding there are a “bunch of f—ing dip shits that are running around spouting out opinions and you have to go along with them because they’re MAGA.”

Rogan cited “Christian nationalists that think this whole war is a way to get Jesus to return,” citing reports that the Military Religious Freedom Foundation fielded hundreds of complaints that military commanders have framed the Iran war using rhetoric about biblical “end times.”

Rogan, who endorsed Trump in 2024, clarified he does not identify as either right or left wing, and he also criticized the Democrats’ “woke sh-t” and former President Joe Biden’s immigration policies.

What Did Rogan Say About The Iran War?

Rogan and Smith discussed the Iran war for much of Thursday’s nearly three-hour podcast episode. Rogan called negotiations with Iran as a “clusterf—,” citing reports Iran does not plan to negotiate with the United States to end the war. He questioned why Trump wanted to start the war at the moment he did, and both he and Smith suggested it is one of the most unpopular wars in American history. In a previous episode, Rogan called the Iran war “terrifying, and it’s exactly the opposite of what we were told leading into this administration,” citing Trump’s campaign promise to end “unnecessary foreign wars.” He voiced fears the war could get “really ugly, because that’s how you start a World War III.”

How Has Rogan Grown More Critical Of Trump?

Rogan has become increasingly critical of Trump throughout his second term, largely over the administration’s handling of the Epstein files. Rogan said in an episode last month the largely redacted files released by the Justice Department are a “terrible look for Trump,” accusing the administration of protecting “powerful billionaire guys.” In January, Rogan suggested the administration was carrying out immigration raids in Minnesota to distract from the Epstein files, stating the “whole thing is weird.” He has also criticized Trump’s immigration policies, criticizing the killings of American citizens Alex Pretti and Renee Good by immigration authorities.

Key Background

Rogan, who has ranked as Spotify’s top podcast for six straight years, interviewed and endorsed Trump in 2024 in what was considered a crucial show of support as Trump captured a greater share of votes from young men. Other podcasters and streamers considered part of the “manosphere” also backed Trump, including podcaster Andrew Schulz, though he also has become a Trump critic over the war in Iran. “Americans don’t give a f—. Americans can’t f— afford healthcare, they don’t care about what’s happening in Iran,” Schulz said on his show earlier this month.
