BLOOMINGTON — Indiana basketball guard Jason Drake plans to enter the transfer portal, per 247Sports.
The Hoosiers already had plenty of roster spots available with six players (four starters) graduating and just three incoming freshmen. The transfer window for Division I basketball this year will be a 15-day period running from April 7-21.
On3 reported Tuesday that Santa Claus native Trent Sisley intends to return to IU.
Drake missed the entire season with a lower-body injury he suffered in practice ahead of IU’s trip out to Puerto Rico for a series of exhibition games. He stayed back in Bloomington for the foreign tour and ended up staying on the team’s injury report the entire year.
The last update Indiana coach Darian DeVries gave on Drake was that he was “progressing” toward making a return at the end of November. DeVries envisioned Drake providing IU depth in the backcourt behind Conor Enright and Tayton Conerway.
Drake was a well-traveled junior having played for three different teams (Cleveland State, Butler Community Colelge and Drexel) before arriving in Bloomington. As a full-time starter in 2024-25 for the Dragons, he averaged 11.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game while shooting 39.6% from 3-point range.
Indiana opted out of postseason play after missing out on the NCAA Tournament as the fourth team out of the field. DeVries will now turn his attention to building out the team’s roster alongside Ryan Carr, his newly hired executive director of basketball.
