Victory on the road at rivals Blackburn Rovers could go a long way to all-but sealing Albion’s Championship status.
In doing so, James Morrison’s travellers would delight each and every supporter in the 7,500-strong away end after Monday’s hosts inexplicably offered the opportunity for a direct rival to bring an army of followers to pack out the entire stand behind the goal.
On Easter Monday it has all the ingredients to be a real day to remember, but Morrison and his troops know they must continue their end of the bargain and give the monumental following plenty to get behind.
Blackburn, under Michael O’Neill, are in good shape. An excellent 1-0 victory at Birmingham City’s St Andrew’s made it seven points from a possible nine against Blues, Millwall and Middlesbrough – the latter pair currently second and third.
Yet Albion, now unbeaten in five, have kept on the coattails of their fellow resurgent rivals and an away victory in Lancashire will take Morrison’s men above Rovers into 19th.
It would also lift the Baggies on to 47 points and a feeling of being almost there.
Morrison warned: “There’s no hiding place from what the game is.
“They picked up another good victory away from home. They’re confidence will be up so we’ll have to match that.
“We’ll have to remind the players that we’re five unbeaten. We took another point on Friday and we keep going.”

Morrison’s availability for Ewood Park is not expected to alter from Friday’s 2-2 draw with skipper Jed Wallace (calf) sidelined for much of the final month of the season.
He joins fellow widemen Karlan Grant and Mikey Johnston out.
Grant, Chris Mepham and Tammer Bany are pushing close to a return but Monday comes too soon for the trio.
Josh Griffiths kept his place between the sticks against Wrexham despite Max O’Leary’s return to fitness.
Griffiths was beaten twice as the visitors roared back but the keeper could have done little about either effort.
Defender Nat Phillips will continue at the heart of the backline after improved recent form and the Bolton-born defender will be well up for the clash against the north west neighbours.
Phillips, 29, formerly of Bolton’s academy, grew up in a Wanderers household where dad Jimmy was a two-time Trotters defender across lengthy 1980s and 1990s spells, as well as reserve boss, academy boss and caretaker manager on several occasions.
The powerful centre-back remembers being part of an Ewood Park away end with Bolton as a young child and there will be no shortage of Albion support from the Phillips family as the Baggies push for safety.
“They (Bolton and Blackburn) were both obviously doing well at the time when I was young,” Phillips said.
“It was always Bolton. Certainly at school as well, most kids were either Bolton or Blackburn fans, with a lot of Man United fans littered in there as well!
“There were a lot of bragging rights between mates. I saw a good games between both, at Ewood Park as well. I’m looking forward to it.”
The defender added: “We’ve got such an amazing away following going up there as well.
“With 7,500 fans it will probably feel like a home game.”
