Olivia Rodrigo has been hinting that a new album is on the way, and now, Hoboken, New Jersey may be part of it. After a purple lock was spotted at Pier C Park, fans started to wonder if it could be a potential Easter egg connected to the upcoming release. Theories are already swirling online, with fans dissecting every small clue (so of course, we had to investigate). From mysterious symbols to local sightings, it seems like every detail could be part of her next big drop. Read on for more about this possible Easter egg in Hoboken + the new album.
Pop singer Olivia Rodrigo’s third album could be coming soon, if the clues are to be believed. According to HerCampus, the singer has been dropping Easter eggs. First, a mural in Los Angeles was spotted, with a stylized version of Olivia’s logo front and center. The mural started off a dark purple, but was re-painted each day to eventually become a lighter pink, and the word ‘love’ was added. Could the pink be in reference to the pink moon that is supposed to occur on April 2nd?
As soon as fans started speculating about the meaning of the word, Olivia’s British Vogue interview and cover came out. Interviewer Amel Mukhtar listened to three tracks and shared the following: “The fan theories were right: these are all love songs, but specifically about the obsession and anxiety of it – or the depression when your lover is gone.”
So if the clues are to be believed, Olivia Rodrigo’s third album will come out in early April, and possibly on April 2nd. The theme is a pink aesthetic, and the songs are love songs, whatever that flavor may be.
But how does Hoboken fit into all of this?
An HG reader DM’ed us on Monday, March 30th, saying that there was a locket found on the waterfront by Pier C, and we were also sent a few TikToks, including this one:
@whoissdanielaaa Found the lock at Pier C in Hoboken!!! So fun to find on my jog today! 🏃♀️💗 #or3 #oliviarodrigo #oliviarodrigolock ♬ vampire – Olivia Rodrigo
So of course, we had to do some digging ourselves and walked over. Lo and behold, we found it!
Since lockets are usually tied to love and memories, fans think this could be another little clue about the album’s themes. Between the murals, the interviews, and now this find on the waterfront, it’s starting to feel like it’s all connected.
Coincidence or not, Hoboken might’ve just found its way into the Olivia Rodrigo universe.
