First Alert 6 welcomes Matt Serwe to the weather team


OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The First Alert 6 Weather team is excited to welcome Matt Serwe back to the Omaha metro!

Serwe will join Senior Chief Meteorologist Rusty Lord and Meteorologist Emily Roehler at the WOWT weather desk in April as our new Chief Meteorologist, bringing weeknight viewers a first alert to weather developments in the area.

Serwe is departing the Minneapolis area, where he worked as the weekend meteorologist at KSTP. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, he has a degree in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences and has earned the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal from The American Meteorological Society.

Matt says he’s excited to return to Omaha, where he spent nine years as a morning news meteorologist. During that time, he helped cover the twin EF-4 tornadoes that hit Pilger, Neb., as well as the catastrophic floods in Spring 2019.
