What’s coming with Fortnite OG Season 8? The flashback mode of Battle Royale might be cycling around the content we saw back in Chapter 1, but there’s still some surprises coming. Players returning to the game will find a bunch of new Remix skins. These take the original looks from Season 8 and freshen the up. We’re also getting the same loot pool and map changes that we got back in the original Season 8.

This was the Fortnite season that became a pirate takeover. We had themed items like treasure maps and cannons. However, there were other changes. The map revealed ancient ruins along with a new volcano. It’s an impressive POI which hasn’t been replicated since. Originally the Battle Pass was even free for a ton of players, which probably won’t get repeated this time.
The Fortnite OG Season 8 update will be our first chance to play this season in years. What’s changing for Fortnite OG’s new season?

ToggleFortnite OG Season 8 Skins Revealed
Three new remix skins are coming as part of the Fortnite OG Season 8 update. Each OG season picks a small number of skins from the original release and gives us a new version of them. This usually includes the most iconic characters from the past season updated for the current design styles. For this OG Pass, it’s even mashing up a pirate skin with the volcano. Combining the two main elements of Season 8.
One of the biggest surprises of this pass is what’s being skipped though. Fortnite OG Season 8 isn’t bringing in a new Peely. He’s one of the most recognizable and iconic Fortnite skins. Everyone expected a new Peely to come since he originated in the Season 8 Battle Pass. Although, we have had a lot of Peely skins. Maybe Epic is trying to save their next Peely for the item shop instead.
There’s a part of the upcoming OG Pass players have been curious about though, how far will it re-create the original experience? There’s one feature we probably won’t be seeing this time.
Will the Fortnite Season 8 OG Pass Be Free?
There’s still an unknown for the current season’s Pass, well at least for the very hopefully minded people there’s an unknown. Back in S8, the game was recovering from a dip in the Fortnite player count. With other new Battle Royales on the horizon. Epic made the Pass free for everyone who had stuck through the season before. A nice move that encouraged loyal players.
We probably won’t see the same thing happen this time. The Fortnite OG Season 8 skins seem like they’re going to follow the same strategy as normal. Part of Crew or purchasable as a separate Pass for V-Bucks. Given we’ve just seen some huge layoffs at Epic, it’s very unlikely a Battle Pass will be give away for free just to line up with Chapter 1.
OG Season 8 Updates
Map Changes

The Fortnite OG Season 8 release isn’t just skins. It’s also bringing in a ton of the loot pool changes we saw originally and map changes.
It’s going to be pretty difficult to miss some of these changes. The Volcano dominates the map. With the Season 8 map being one of the most diverse looking we’ve ever had, major Biomes are all represented alongside some of the iconic Fortnite Chapter 1 POIs that are still here.
The Fortnite OG Season 8 update is also adding the Lazy Lagoon POI and Sunny Steps. These are a few different styles to join the C1 map. There’s also going to be some bigger loot pool changes.
Loot Pool Changes for Fortnite OG Season 8
The new season of Fortnite will be making some big changes to the items too. We’ll see the best Fortnite weapons changed up. These are the loot pool changes that are coming:
- Flint Knock Pistol
- Treasure Map
- Poison Dart Trap
- Boom Bow
- Heavy Assault Rifle
- Hunting Rifle
- Smoke Bomb
- Impulse Grenade
These are pretty exciting items to get added. The Smoke Bomb was behind some genius plays back in Chapter 1. Even playing a pivotal role in the World Cup win that made Bugha the Fortnite player with the highest earnings back in Season X.
Then there’s stuff like the Treasure Map and Flint-Knock. Heavily themed items but ones that are quite fun. Chapter 1 Season 8 also introduces some changes to mobility on the map.
There’s going to be cannons spaced around. these fire players off into a direction to rotate quicker. Later in the season, we’ll be getting the Baller too. This feels like a standard vehicle now, but back in Chapter 1 it was ridiculous. It launched with an insane level of HP that made the last circles awful.
The Fortnite OG Season 8 changes probably won’t disrupt the meta as much. Now players are used to items like these they aren’t as powerful. it’ll be fun to revisit that crazy meta again in OG though.
