LSU baseball goes for its first SEC series win of the year on Sunday, as the Tigers host Kentucky for the final game of a three-game set in Baton Rouge. The Tigers split the first two games with the Wildcats, dropping the series opener before getting back in the win column on Saturday.

If LSU does win, it will be the Tigers’ first series win since they beat Dartmouth on Mar. 1 — its nearly been a month.

This is a massive game for Jay Johnson’s squad. Notching a series win over a ranked SEC squad is just what LSU’s resume needs after dropping the SEC opener to Vanderbilt and losing at home vs. Oklahoma last weekend.

We don’t know who will get the start for LSU today. William Schmidt, LSU’s usual Sunday starter, got the ball yesterday due to Cooper Moore’s injury. Schmidt threw 5.1 good innings before turning it over to Zac Cowan, who finished the game. That puts LSU pitching in a good position for Sunday. Potential starters include Gavin Guidry, Deven Sheerin, or Reagan Ricken.

LSU baseball vs. Kentucky Prediction

LSU Baseball 5, Kentucky 7: I want to pick LSU, but I feel slightly better about Kentucky’s pitching situation today. There are too many questions about LSU, given the inconsistent lineup and the fact that whatever pitcher starts for LSU today will be making his first weekend start of the year.
