Just 8 minutes ago, a 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck near Pelabuhanratu, Kabupaten Sukabumi, Jawa Barat, Indonesia. The tremor was recorded around noon on Thursday, April 2nd, 2026, at 1:42 pm local time, at a very shallow depth of 7. km below the surface.
The event was filed by Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 4.5 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Pelabuhanratu (pop. 109,500) located 84 km from the epicenter, and Sukabumi (pop. 360,600) 106 km away.
