Tornado reported near Lindale; 1 woman displaced after home damage

LINDALE, Texas (KLTV) – A brief tornado occurred around 10:15 a.m. Saturday in the FM 16 and FM 2710 area near Lindale, with several homes suffering major damage.

Two homes suffered “extensive” damage, according to Smith County Emergency Management Coordinator Brandon Moore.

Power lines running near the 15300 block of County Road 46 and County Road 45 are arching, and first responders are in the area waiting on ONCOR work crews, officials said in a press release.

Earlier in the day, Lindale Fire Chief Jeremy LaRue said one home was damaged in the storm, leaving one woman displaced.

Viewers reported flash flooding in Longview, where a Burger King franchise saw several inches of water flow through its parking lot. Burger King employees said the water drained and did not affect business.

Rainfall also caused significant flooding in Marshall, with police asking residents to avoid flooded areas, including near the Franklin Street Bridge.

Moore asked anyone with tornado or storm damage to contact the Smith County Sheriff’s Office at 903-566-6600.
